Welcome to KOOL’s Pet of the Week page, brought to you by Airgas of DuBois for the Clearfield SPCA and the Gateway Humane Society of Creek, PA!
This week we’re featuring …
Kyle
You may remember when Kyle was turned into the shelter as a stray.
When Kyle arrived, he was immediately taken to the Animal Hospital of DuBois for care (thank you for all of your help).
They assessed him as a body score of 1/5 (not good). He smelled of urine and feces. He had urine stains on his fur. Feces on legs and body. His toenails were overgrown.
Severe emaciation, ribs shown, spine and scapula and tendons were easily visualized.
He was confined without adequate nutrition. If he was not confined and just running loose, he would not have had urine stains on his fur and be covered in feces.
His weight when he was found was 26lbs. He now weighs a healthy 64lbs.
Kyle has lots of energy. He is a playful boy. Kyle does need some training. We recommend a home with no small children. Kyle needs a home where someone can exercise him and keep up with his energy. He is estimated to be around 2 years old.
If you would like to meet Kyle, please stop by Gateway Humane Society during open hours (Monday and Wednesday 4pm-7pm) and (Tuesday and Saturday noon-4pm).
(Our Senior for Senior Program- With approved application patrons 65 and over may adopt a senior pet for a monetary donation. The normal adoption fee does not apply. We simply request that you give the pet a loving and patient home in which to enjoy each other’s company).
We are asking for everyone to wear a mask. Only a limited amount of people will be let in at one time. We will be disinfecting after each person visits, The shelter is small so it is hard to social distance. We are asking for serious inquiries only. We would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
Watch our Facebook page for any updates.
Gateway Humane Society is a non-profit, no-kill shelter that is funded by donations, adoptions and fundraisers. We understand that times are tough for everyone in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we ask that you consider making a donation to help with the daily care of our homeless animals.
