A New Jersey woman is facing more than a dozen charges after police say she became distracted by a bug and crossed into oncoming traffic, causing a deadly crash Wednesday near Luthersburg.
State police say 55-year-old Bernadette Cobb, of Brick, New Jersey, was driving an SUV on Carson Hill Road, also known as Route 322/219, when she tried to swat the bug and turned the wheel into the opposite lane. Her SUV struck a motorcycle head-on, killing 34-year-old Anthony Sones and 30-year-old Miranda Wormuth, both of Hyde. Police say there was no evidence Cobb was impaired. She is charged with homicide by vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and careless driving resulting in death.
Cobb was arraigned Thursday and posted bond.
