ICE is considering purchasing or directly contracting with the Moshannon Valley Processing Center in Clearfield County as it looks to maintain detention capacity in Pennsylvania.
According to a spotlight PA article the county’s current contracts with ICE and facility operator GEO Group expire in September. The facility has 1,876 beds and currently operates under an arrangement that gives Clearfield County limited oversight.
Local activists are concerned ICE could cut the county out of future agreements, while county commissioners say they have received no confirmation of a sale or direct contract.
