A Clearfield County judge has set bail at $1 million for a Clearfield Area High School teacher accused of inappropriate contact with a student.
WJAC News reports, John Chelednik, 36, remains jailed at the Clearfield County Correctional Facility after being unable to post bail following a hearing Wednesday. Chelednik was charged last week with multiple offenses, including felony counts of institutional sexual assault and corruption of minors, after investigators alleged he kissed a 17-year-old female student on the last day of school. Police also allege the two communicated online for nearly a year, with conversations becoming increasingly personal and sexual.
Charges remain allegations, and Chelednik is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
