A 59-year-old Brookville man is facing a felony causing catastrophe charge and multiple DUI offenses after police say he crashed his pickup truck into a utility pole on April 26, triggering widespread power surges and damage throughout the borough.
According to ExploreJefferson pa.com, authorities allege William John Wright had a blood alcohol content of 0.237% when the crash caused electrical fires, damaged homes and appliances, and destroyed a garage. Police said Wright also struck a parked SUV, causing more than $10,000 in damage.
Wright is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 20.
