On the District 9 diamonds this past Saturday, North Penn-Mansfield dominated the baseball scene, kicking off a doubleheader against Northern Potter with a convincing 10-3 victory. The Tigers’ momentum carried into the second game, where they built a commanding 8-1 lead before play was suspended in the first inning. While the Tigers found success, other area baseball matchups fell victim to the schedule or elements: contests between Oswayo Valley and Williamson, as well as Curwensville and West Branch, were moved to May 11, while the crossover showdown between A-C Valley/Union and Reynolds was canceled.
In softball action, the DuBois Beavers made quick work of Altoona, buzzing up to a 12-1 win in just five innings. However, the rest of the regional softball slate was wiped out by inclement weather. Northern Potter’s trip to North Penn-Liberty was canceled, and Redbank Valley’s scheduled doubleheader at Curwensville was also taken off the board.
