Several school buses slated for use in demolition derbies at the Sykesville Fairgrounds were heavily damaged after a fire broke out Monday afternoon, authorities said.
Witnesses reported the blaze started while workers were cutting metal nearby, igniting the vacant buses. Firefighters responded and brought the flames under control in about 20 minutes.
No injuries were reported, officials said.
