All three Punxsutawney fire companies responded to a single-vehicle rollover accident Wednesday afternoon on West Mahoning Street near Mulberry Healthcare.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, the driver of a red Subaru became distracted and struck a large tree, causing the vehicle to flip. While initial reports suggested passengers were trapped, former firefighter Tony Ross successfully pulled the occupants from the wreckage before emergency crews arrived.
One passenger sustained injuries in the crash. Local police were assisted by Jefferson County EMS and Walker’s Towing, while firefighters managed one-lane traffic and cleared the roadway.
