Residents pressed DuBois City Council this week over delayed utility bills and rising refuse and water rates, citing sharp monthly increases and concerns about affordability for seniors and low-income households.
According to last Thursday’s Courier Express, City officials attributed the changes to consolidation of DuBois and Sandy Township systems, inflation, administrative costs and long-deferred infrastructure needs, including a new wastewater treatment plant.
Leaders said billing delays were caused by technical issues and pledged transparency, while defending higher fees as necessary to cover operating expenses and stabilize city finances.
