DuBois City Council voted last Wednesday night to begin preliminary steps toward potentially removing fluoride from the city’s public water supply, a decision officials stressed is not final and will require additional public notice and hearings.
According to theCourierExpress.Com Interim Co-City Manager Ben Kafferlin said discontinuing fluoridation would involve a major permit modification through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and could take several months to complete.
Council unanimously authorized city administration to draft permit changes and conduct further study, noting the move would allow for continued public input before any final decision is made.
