Penn State DuBois has launched a new practical nursing program to help address the regional and national nursing shortage.
Thirteen students are enrolled in the 18-month program, which includes hands-on training with local health facilities. Program coordinator Nicki Dufour said the effort is critical to filling nursing jobs and strengthening ties between students and the community.
Although Penn State DuBois is set to close, officials hope to continue the program through a new partnership.
