All it took was a couple of key mistakes to give Milwaukee the edge it needed as the Brewers took the weekend series from the Pirates. Greg Brown recaps a disappointing afternoon.
The Pirates travel to the coast for the opener of a four-game western road swing tonight. They’ll play four night games against the Dodgers in LA, starting with a 9:45 airtime tonight on 100.9 The Groundhog. Mitch Keller [9-3, 3.34 ERA] starts for the Pirates. The Dodgers have not named their starter.
Keller was named to his first All-Star game yesterday. The Bucco right-hander is tied for second in the National League in wins, is third in strikeouts, and is sixth in innings pitched. He is the only Pirates named to the All-Star game, which is July 11th in Seattle.
The Pirates activated Bryan Reynolds from the injured list but he went 0-for-4 in the game. Ji Hwan Bae was placed on the injured list with a sprained ankle suffered in Saturday’s game.
Reliever Wil Crowe threw a hitless inning yesterday in a rehab start for low-A Bradenton.
