The Brookville borough solicitor presented a draft for an ordinance to establish a tax credit for volunteer firefighters and non-profit emergency medical service volunteers.
The Punxsutawney Spirit reports, eligible volunteers can receive credits on Brookville borough real estate and earned income taxes, with the possibility of a full tax exemption for real estate taxes.
The Spirit adds, the fire company approved by the council will determine the criteria to qualify for the tax credit for the fire tax.
