The Save Punxsy’s Local Area Swimming Hole, or SPLASH, donated $25,000 to the Punxsutawney Borough at Tuesday’s council meeting.
According to the Punxsutawney Spirit, SPLASH member Denise Geist said the George C. Brown Community Pool will close for the season Sunday, Aug. 16. A free swim day is planned Saturday, Aug. 15, as a thank-you to the community.
Geist said attendance averaged about 80 swimmers during the hot start to the season.
