A former Clearfield Area School District teacher is being held without bail after being charged with sexual contact with a student.
According to the WTAJ News, Police say 36-year-old John Timothy Chelednik of DuBois communicated with a student through online messages and handwritten letters before allegedly kissing the student outside of school on June 3. Investigators say Chelednik continued contacting the student after being directed by the school district on June 4 to have no contact with students. An arrest warrant was issued July 16, and he was taken into custody July 19 after returning from an out-of-state vacation. Bail was denied over concerns for the safety of the alleged victim and possible other victims.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 29.
