A Kersey man will spend up to two years in state prison after pleading guilty to attempting to meet someone he believed was a 15-year-old girl for sex at a local park, prosecutors said.
Michael Hanes, 24, was arrested by Curwensville police following an investigation into an alleged online relationship with a decoy operated by the 814 Pred Hunters group, who arranged a meeting at Irvin Park. Authorities said messages indicated Hanes was planning a “methodical” sexual assault.
Court records show he pleaded guilty to felony attempted statutory sexual assault and was evaluated by the Sexual Offenders Assessment Board, which determined he is not a sexually violent predator but still requires him to register as a sex offender.
