The DuBois Area School District is not currently projecting a property tax increase for its preliminary 2026–27 budget, despite a projected $4.9 million shortfall.
The Courier Express is reporting that while expenditures are expected to reach $77.9 million against $73.1 million in revenue, the district aims to bridge the gap through strategic prioritization and its $32.5 million fund balance. Rising costs in healthcare and special education continue to drive spending, but officials noted that historical trends of conservative budgeting and aggressive grant writing may stabilize the long-term outlook.
The school board is expected to review a proposed final budget in May, with a final adoption deadline set for June.
