A 65-year-old Clarion woman has been charged after state police said she kept a $20 bill left behind at a self-checkout machine at a Monroe Township Walmart.
ExploreClarion.Com reports, Joanne Clark-Best is charged with misdemeanor theft of property lost, mislaid or delivered by mistake in connection with the Dec. 9 incident. Investigators said surveillance video showed her picking up the bill from the floor and using it to pay for her items without attempting to return it or notify store employees. Clark-Best later told police she believed the money came from her own pocket, though troopers said she acknowledged it did not come from the machine.
A summons was issued through the office of Jeffrey C. Miller.
