A federal judge has scheduled a month-long trial beginning June 1 in Johnstown for former DuBois City Manager John “Herm” Suplizio and former city administrative secretary Roberta “Bobbie” Shaffer, who are charged with conspiracy, federal program theft and money laundering.
The Courier Express reports the case will be heard before Stephanie L. Haines of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and is expected to run through June.
Prosecutors allege the pair funneled more than $1.5 million in public funds into unauthorized bank accounts over a 14-year period, while a separate dispute over a potential conflict of interest involving one of Suplizio’s attorneys must be addressed by a March 20 court deadline.
