Two Karthaus residents are facing felony charges after allegedly assaulting state police during a traffic stop in Decatur Township.
According to GantNews.Com, 55 year-old, Markel W. Maines, and 46 year-old, Rita Marie Bahus, allegedly fought with troopers on Jan. 10 as officers attempted to take Maines into custody, resulting in injuries to officers and additional charges including drug offenses. Investigators said Maines was found with suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, while Bahus allegedly struck a trooper and resisted arrest.
Maines remains jailed on $50,000 bail with a preliminary hearing set for Jan. 21, and Bahus is being held on $50,000 bail after waiving her preliminary hearing.
