Sligo Borough Council is weighing a possible ordinance to regulate and tax skill game machines while officials work to close a roughly $46,000 funding gap for the borough’s long-planned footbridge project.
During the council’s Jan. 1 meeting, members discussed additional consulting costs requested by engineering firm HRG that are not covered by existing state and federal grants, prompting efforts to seek emergency funding, including a pending private foundation grant.
Council also reviewed regional fee structures for skill games as it considers similar regulations in Sligo and addressed routine organizational and financial matters.
