The Powerball jackpot has surged to an estimated $1.60 billion for tonight’s drawing, marking the fourth-largest prize in the game’s history and the fifth-largest in U.S. lottery records.
If a single winner is crowned in the Monday, Dec. 22 drawing, they will face a choice between a $1.60 billion annuity paid over 30 years or a one-time lump sum payment estimated at $735.3 million, both before taxes.
The drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. EST, with the odds of winning the grand prize standing at 1 in 292.2 million.
