Punxsutawney native and Indiana Indians coach Dan Petroff led Indiana to a thrilling 5-4 win over Montoursville on Friday, capturing the Class 4A PIAA baseball title at Penn State’s Medlar Field.
A former runner-up in both basketball (with Punxsutawney in 1992) and baseball (with Indiana in 2023), Petroff said the win was all about the players and their families. “The sacrifices they made to get to this point… this is a group you root for,” he said.
Support came not just from Indiana, but also from his hometown of Punxsutawney.
