The Department of Human Services (DHS) is warning residents about stolen SNAP benefits from EBT cards due to skimming scams.
Many local residents have reported incidents. To combat theft, DHS has implemented enhanced PIN security, but victims cannot be reimbursed due to the expiration of congressional authorization in December. DHS is exploring other solutions and advises those in need to call 211 or seek help from local food banks.
