Heat can be a killer if you're not careful and play it cool. Here are things to remember when the temperatures start to soar.
Most healthy adults can cope with heat; their bodies are able to maintain normal temperatures...up to a point. The body maintains its temperature primarily through sweating. When body heat rises above the norm, the brain causes the blood vessels in the skin to dilate, providing increased blood flow at the surface of the body and supplying increased fluids to make sweat. As perspiration evaporates, it cools the surface of the body and lowers body temperature. If the humidity is higher, it is more difficult for the body to perspire normally.
Here are five ideas to keep your house and yourself cool:
1. If your area cools off in the evening, take advantage of the cool evenings to cool off your entire house. Open windows and doors with screens to bring the inside temperature down.
2. Consider using a whole-house fan. It is a "natural evening air conditioner."
3. In the morning, close up your house and draw blinds and drapes so the house stays darker and thus cooler.

For the third time, A Clearfield County Man was found guilty of Murder. According to our news partners at 10 news, Andrew Callahan was convicted of murdering Micah Pollack back in 1997, when the two were sixteen years old. In two previous trials, Callahan had been found guilty but the convictions were thrown out due to improper jury instruction. Clearfield County District Attorney William Shaw said the Court Personnel were careful to follow proper proceedure at all times. Callahan was immediately sentenced to life in prison without parole. The Defense has 10 days to file any post-trial motions and 30 days to file an appeal.

A man has been arrested in connection with the Robbery of a Convienence Store in Rossiter back on July 20th. According to our previous reports, a robber had gone in to Slick’s Convienence Store in Rossiter around 7:30 in the evening on July 20th and held up the cashier at knife-point. Punxsutawney-based state police have now identified the robber as Mark Woods, a 21 year old from the Burnside area. He was arrested by police and charged with Robbery, theft, receiving stolen property and simple assault among other charges. He was arraigned and sent to Indiana County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.

A Paving scam has been reported to State Police. According to Clarion-based state police, a company using the name of Attenborough Paving had approached an 82 year-old-man from Clarion Area asking to repair a small hole in his driveway at the cost of $3.00 a square foot. Before the man knew it, they repaved the entire driveway and had a bill of $4500. The man did write them a check for a lesser ammount in order to get the scam artists to leave. Police investigated the case and found paving equipment located at a nearby hotel. Investigation revealed that Avery Stanley, 21 of Bethlehem had used several names for his company. Stanley was taken into custody and arraigned before on-call judge Jeffrey Miller. Stanley is currently in Clarion County Jail in lieu of $45,000 cash bail.
