Clearfield County Officials taking action on tax deliquent and abandoned properties
Officials in Clearfield County are taking action on abandoned and tax delinquent properties. According to our news partners at 10 News, Clearfield’s Chief Assessor says that there are potentially 2000 properties that could go up for judicial sale. Some of the properties are already on the market, but buyers may be more willing to bid on the house in a judicial sale, because the properties will then be free and clear of any back taxes. Commissioner John Sobel said that the sale of these properties would help the County budget, local municipalities, and the area school districts. The Commissioners say that the properties will probably go for less than normal value, but they will be happy to get some of the tax dollars generated by the sales.

Gas prices continue upward swing.
Gas prices continue to rise throughout the area. According to Triple-A, The average price of a gallon of regular self-serve unleaded gasoline in our area rose another 9 cents over the past week to $2.84. The reason why Gas prices are once again going up is due to renewed optimism in the US Economy’s short term health. Economists say the optimism comes as the economy is still shedding jobs, but at a slower rate than in previous months. Seasonal factors are also at work, as some refineries are switching over to summer blended fuels. Investors are also counting on increased travel as the weather improves.
